Ocean Spray is clearly superior to Snapple.

Cave Story ~ Doukutsu Monogatari: Walkthrough

Egg Corridor

Welcome to the Egg Corridor. If you talk to the blue thing in the alcove, you'll learn that the white blur on the bottom will shred you to pieces, given half a chance. But we want that Life Capsule, so just after it smacks into the wall, jump down and dash into the alcove with the Life Capsule. Once you get the idea, it shouldn't be too hard. Backtrail to the teleporter. Walk right, nuking the crap out of the elephant thing. Continue right to see a green bouncing thing: kill it. Continue right, committing elephant/bouncy thing genocide as you go. Some insects will appear that can fly through walls: don't panic, just shoot up when they fly overhead. Just after Egg 11 (as numbered in the chambers below) you'll see a Mimiga and some kind of freakish evil Mimiga. Jump over the wall and investigate.

Mimiga: There you are, you monster!
Mimiga: I'm not affraida you!
Monster: OOGAAHH!!
Mimiga: Yeah? What's that?
Mimiga: You wanna bring it?!
Mimiga: Go ahead and try!
Mimiga: Even my brother's never lost to me!!
The monster approaches and whacks the Mimiga.
Mimiga: Oof! You win!
The monster hits again.
Mimiga: I'm sorry! I'm sorry!!
*Crash!*
Mimiga: Ooohh...
Mimiga: Huh?
Mimiga: Who're you?
The monster approaches and grabs the Mimiga.
Mimiga: Erk!
Monster: .....
The monster walks away, carrying the Mimiga.

Well, that was very... non... hentai-ish... Yeah. You've probably guessed that it's up to you to save her. Continue right and jump through the door with a disk over it to enter Cthulhu's Abode. Cthulhu himself isn't very helpful, so just shoot the blocks and go through the door at the top. Now you have to do some precision jumping to get the Life Capsule. Keep trying until you get it, before continuing onward past Egg 9. Watch out for the insects in this area; the light green ones will simply fly back and forth between the walls with a decidedly stupid look on their faces. At Egg 7, just drop down and shoot the insect and the bouncing thing. When you come out the other side, kill everything you can reach until Egg 5. Drop down onto the block, timing it so you can shoot the two insects. Jump across (with a feat of acrobatics, you can shoot down while jumping over the insect to kill it). Hop up, gun down the insect, and prepare, because a particularly big insect will appear, which not only takes a bit more to kill, but can shoot back. Kill the bouncers and go through the door to the Egg Observation Room.

There's a treasure chest at the top, raid it for your second weapon, the Missile Launcher. Despite the fact that the ammo is limited, don't worry about using up your ammo too much, since it pretty much restocks itself with the ammount of missiles the enemies will drop now. Now investigate the computers at the bottom: apparently Eggs 6 and 1 need a look at.

We'll get to the eggs later; for now just run about the Egg Corridor levelling up the Missile Launcher. You can shoot things with the Polar Star, then switch with the A or S key before collecting the experience. Feel free to experiment with the Missile Launcher; there are three missiles in the Egg Observation Room which come back every time you enter which you can use to fill up.

When your Missile Launcher is maxed out, backtrail to Egg 6. There'll be four blocks at the four compass points between Egg 6 and Egg 5. Jump through the gap in the floor (mind the white blur) and sprint to jump up into the Egg 6 chamber. Jump up into the egg itself and raid the treasure chest for an ID Card.

Now backtrail to the Observation Room and go right. Be careful, since a gang of insects (including a big one) will assault you from behind, so be quick about jumping down, killing the resident insects, and hiding behind the bars (since the big one can't fly or shoot through walls, and the smaller ones stay at roughly the same altitude). That way you can finish off the small ones from a safe vantage point, and gun down the big one at your leisure by timing his shots. After this skirmish, watch out, because as soon as you near Egg 2 another big one will fly straight at you, with a couple of small ones coming from the other side. As usual, the small ones are no threat. When you're safe again, continue right, mowing down everything in sight. Another big insect will appear as you cross the Egg 1 threshold. Now you'll see a wavy line, which blocks your passage and somewhat hurts if you touch it. Drop to the floor (mind the bouncy thing) and run to Egg 1. Jump in and use the computer terminal to lower the shield.

Exit the egg and go back through where the wavy line once was and you'll see the huge monster Mimiga of before. Yep, you guessed it, it's your job to dispose of it.

BOSS: Igor
At the start, switch to the Missile Launcher and unload everything you have on him, backing off from his charging. When he lands from a jump, jump over him. When you have no missiles left, switch to the Polar Star and blast the remainder of its puny life away. It's not vital to keep in pristine health, since there's a refill point right afterwards.

Easy enough. If you thought that was hard, just you wait. Go through the left door (the door with the tantalizing disk sign over it is locked right now). Talk to the collapsed Mimiga.

Mimiga: ...Ergh.
You back off in surprise.
Mimiga: Owww...
The Mimiga suddenly gets up, attempting to fight a monster that isn't there.
Mimiga: Woh-oh! Hey, I'm not dead yet!
Mimiga: You're gonna eat it this time!!
The Mimiga suddenly realises where she is.
Mimiga: Huh?
Mimiga: I got creamed by that monster...
Mimiga: .....
Mimiga: Did you save me? [YES/NO]
Your response doesn't matter. She'll answer differently, but then will continue as follows.
Mimiga: Oh!
Mimiga: Look! It's... I think it's Number 00!
Mimiga: This egg could be our ticket off this island!
The Mimiga checks the computer terminal.
Mimiga: Egg condition: Normal! That's what I like to hear!
Mimiga: Hm?
Mimiga: A password?
The Mimiga pauses thoughtfully, then turns to you.
Mimiga: Looks like you need a password to hatch this egg.
Mimiga: Well, crud.
Mimiga: If only my brother were here, he'd set things straight.
Mimiga: .....
Mimiga: All right, looks like I'm done here for now.
Mimiga: Are you from around here?
Mimiga: Doesn't look like it, does it.
Mimiga: The words on your cap there...
Mimiga: That's not a language they have on this island.
Mimiga: ...Did you get lost?
Mimiga: That's okay.
Mimiga: I'll let you come with me.
Mimiga: We can get off this dump togther.
Mimiga: In return, you're gonna help me.

Now the Mimiga will walk off, leaving you to fight your way back through the Egg Corridor yourself. In usual video game tradition, she will find her way back unscathed, yet the monsters will still be there for you to wade through. Fortunately, the save room is now open, with a Heart Box that will now refill your missiles as well as your health. Fight your way back to Arthur's House. You don't need my help to get back, though I will say that anything that attacked you going one way will attack you coming back: big insects included. So watch your back. If you want to know how far you are along the corridor, the eggs are numbered 1-16.
