I assured whatever fanbase I might have had at that time that I wasn't dead multiple times, and when I switched from the derpguy125 persona to my current KurosurinTomasu one, and I left my hiatus, most of what I was working on prior felt unfamiliar to me, or felt sort of undercooked, or unfocused, or even confusing at times.
The original CS: Retold was one of these works. I said I wanted to go back to it after CHIKNQUEST finished up, but because that was left on a cliffhanger, I decided to make a rushed ending to the adventure in GameMaker, cancelled the original CS: RETOLD, and made this adventure, initially titled "CAVE STORY: RETOLD DX," definitely inspired by how Sonic Adventure's ports are named.
This name has since been changed, after I realized that this is essentially replacing the old version entirely. I also unlisted the old version, because it's... kinda not good? The plot was all over the place, there was an arc where my computer broke and I had to get a new one... And I haven't done anything with it in a long time, so even if I did continue it, I would have no idea what I had planned for it, and... Well, whatever.
Before I did unlist the old version of this adventure, though, these initial pages made reference to it- for example, Kazuma here used to mention how it felt like this has been done before, and the next page would mention that I basically gave up on the original. Speaking of, these initial pages are retreads of the original adventure. It changes past the title page, though, and post-rewrite, even the title page is slightly better than the original.
